Planning a Wedding

A month before my 23rd birthday, my husband and I finally tied the knot. I say finally because we had been dating since I was 16 and he was 17. I know some people cannot imagine making such a huge life commitment at such a young age, but given our history together, there was never any doubt between my husband and I, and between our families, that we would spend the rest of our lives together. And here we are, approaching 4 years, and just past our 10th year together :)

At the time, I was finishing my last year of university while planning a wedding. Being only 22, I didn’t have any experienced friends I could turn to for advice. I lived a little ways away from all of my family, and without a car, it wasn’t easy to get together with my mom. Ultimately, I planned our wedding entirely by myself. Thankfully there was a seemingly infinite number of resources on the web that really helped me along. They provided the sage advice I didn’t otherwise have access to. My biggest support network: The Knot, which is still thriving and still helping many many brides across North America.

One thing that has come along since my planning days is Etsy. I know I’ve posted about Etsy before and how great I think they are (I have a store over there you should check out!)… Well one thing they’re unbelievably wonderful for, is getting handmade details for your wedding day. I wanted to highlight for you some of the things I’ve seen during my browsing. Some of the stuff is so cute it almost makes me want to plan another wedding… almost!

Practice Makes Perfect

Since I have a lot of time on my hands these days, what with being laid off from my day job, I figured I’d hone my skills a bit and practice my technique. Capturing the details of a wedding are so important. The bride (and her support staff) put so much effort into the little things, and it really brings the whole day together. Since my husband doesn’t really wear his wedding ring (shame on him! :P) I decided to take some fun ring shots around the house.

New Business Cards

I received my Moo business cards last week and couldn’t be happier! They are works of art. Beautifully printed, perfect weight. I really can’t say enough about them. They make me very happy :)

Now all I need is a bunch of people to give them to. Spread the word… I have business cards!!! :P

Bethany’s Bridal Shower

This past weekend I attended another bridal shower for my once roommate Bethany. This one was a surprise, and she had no idea what was going on. It was great!

Her and her fiance met while performing in A Midsummer Night’s Dream together and eventually fell in love. I am so happy Chris is such a wonderful match for my dear friend.

I’m not shooting their wedding, but I will be doing their engagement portraits in April. I’m so excited about it, they’re such a fun and active couple. I’m sure it’ll be a blast! 

Bethany’s shower was full of energy and laughter, just like her… Here are some highlights.

A bit of a makeover

I have recently found myself semi-constrained to the house, healing from getting my wisdom tooth extraction. So I figured what better way to pass the time than to update my site! 

As you can see, I’ve brightened things up a bit. Not sure if I’m 100% happy with it quite yet, so you might see some more changes at some point. Let me know if you have any input. I welcome suggestions :)

I’ve also added an “About” tab at the top if you wish to know a little bit more about me. It’s mostly rambling and random trivia about yours truly, but I think it’s important that you have a place to get to know, if you wish…

EDIT: OK, I changed it AGAIN… I didn’t like the light background of the blog. It looked to fluffy. So it’s still different, but not as different :P

Well on that note, I hope you enjoy the changes. And to keep you coming back for more, after all what’s a photo blog without at least a photo in each entry, here’s a random picture from one of my winter photo outings recently…

Juveria’s Bridal Shower

It’s taken me a while to get around to posting this, but I thought I’d make myself sit down and do a quick post on Juveria’s (of Mike & Juveria) bridal shower held by her Maid of Honour in Mississauga. It was a lovely afternoon, low key and with plenty of treats to go around.

Mike was holed up in the building waiting to drive Juveria and her mountain of gifts home. He showed up at the end to say hello and thanks. 

And also there were adorable dogs… This shower had everything! :P

Their wedding is coming up fast! Can’t wait guys :)

Movin’ On Up

Well I’m moving on up in the world… slowly! You can now access this website by going to betweenthelinesphoto.com.

That’s right, I shelled out the big bucks and got me my own domain address :) Exciting times around here at {between the lines}. Next step, personalized email account?

I just opened up a new shop on Etsy.com and I’m super excited about it! I am working on getting more and more listings up, but have about 6 so far. 

Etsy is such a great website for purchasing handmade, one-of-a-kind items. You can also find unique vintage items and even supplies for your own crafts. It’s also a great place for inspiration for your own hobbies.

But I warn you, if you’ve never visited the site, prepare to spend hours there :D
